Hello 2009

Hello 2009. Let’s go on an adventure.

1. Take many picturesmake a collage at the end of the year.

2. Learn how to say “no.”

3. Learn to cook/bake new things. :)

4. Try new things even though you may be afraid.

5. Develop good study/homework habits.

6. Develop a better sleep pattern.

7. Start and end the day reading the Bible – finish reading the Bible.

8. Blog, journal, write, draw, etc. the experiences you have.

9. Speak louder—practice public speaking.

10. Start running again—run a race? (5K)

10. Be spontaneous? (Okay, I know this is a stretch for me. Actually a huge stretch, so I let you know how it goes :D ) — I have been spontaneous lots of times so far! Just not sure if I can give up my planner. :)

11. Flee from my past relationship. Pray for healing every day. – So far, so GOOD! I am so proud of you! I knew you could do it.

12. Learn new things. – I will with my ceramics class

13. Shoot for straight A’s (I know this seems like the goal of a perfectionist, but I just want to try really hard in school this year). – try to finish off my classes well

14. Make new memories.

15. Go on a trip.

16. Send letters to the people you love.

17. Focus on passions and discover new passions.

18. Read more books. Become a better reader in general.

19. Write more each day. Keep track of this. Make goals.

20. Live in the present—don’t focus too much on the past or future.

21. Apply for seminary?

22. Start learning Greek, Hebrew, and Armaic.

20. Be involved in Intervarsity.

21. Save money.

22. Find a creative outlet.

23. Gossip less.

24. Do pilates and yoga.

25. Learn how to play *chess* and *spades*.

26. Keep seeing my counselor—ask her for help on family issues.

27. Stop being late for things and start arriving early!

28. Learn to draw (people, buildings, scenes, etc)-find a drawing book.

29. Practice the spiritual discipline of fasting–maybe once a week?

30. Stargaze when you can.

31. Watch sunsets and sunrises.

30. Listen well and listen more—be present.

31. Use my prayer journal.

32. Stop being jealous of others.

33. Don’t be too interverted at church and elsewhere—meet new people.

34. Become better at communication! Listen up! Speak up! Even if I’m afraid of confrontation. ;)

35. Volunteer at least 100 hours of my time.

36. Study Protestantism, Catholicism, and Judaism.

36. Try hard to make amends with my family. Pray each day about this.

37. Take a summer class. – enrolled in ceramics 19 May 2009

38. Play tennis and golf.

39. Find a summer job. (aka annual training)

40. Stop procrastinating.

41. Find ways to serve others.

42. Embrace tech school for all that it is and it isn’t.

43. Take the GRE test.

44. Keep saying “yes” to God throughout the year.

Hello 2008. Let’s be friends.

  • complete a triathlon (in 1hr57min!)
  • read Bible morning and night – finish reading the Bible
  • sing more (definitely!)
  • take a campus tour at Bethel Seminary
  • train for PRT exam!
  • play golf, tennis, basketball
  • learn to play *chess*
  • learn to bake/cook new things (banana bread, The Elvis, oreo truffles, chicken and dumplings, banana and strawberry smoothies, chicken quesadillas, california burgers, cinnamon rolls)
  • take more pictures-make new memories (yes – I love my camera!)
  • read lots of books – not as much as I would have liked :(
  • write-blog, fiction, creative nonfiction, technical/business, journal
  • continue to run (I’ve been running all year… just keep running! just keep running! :)
  • stop being late for things and start arriving early! – (STILL NEED IMPROVEMENT!!!)
  • develop a better sleep pattern (I am going take a class on insomnia ;) )
  • become a better listener (working on it)
  • learn new dances (samba, pasa dobla)
  • be more positive :) – I think I need to read a book about this :)
  • know that everything is going to be okay
  • do things with friends (I sang Kareoke, went to Chilis, baked Oreo Truffles!!)
  • start a prayer journal – yeah, but I didn’t continue this
  • be more organized/clean (much better!)
  • do yoga and pilates
  • go to plays (Iphegenia et Alias)
  • learn to play the guitar (taking lessons!)
  • memorize two and three-letter words ^_^
  • volunteer for a Bible study
  • buy school books online (nope – I was worried about not getting them in time :( )
  • plant flowers for my room!
  • learn to draw (people, buildings, scenes, etc)-find a drawing book
  • clean out my room at dad’s (aka storage room) – sell on garage sale, give away, throw, hand down to someone, etc.
  • spend more time with my brothers – I did, but I felt like whenever I came home, they were always playing with their friends or I felt like I was in the way… I should pray about this!
  • learn to love myself for who I am (counseling – I’m getting MUCH better at this)
  • read relationship books for help (How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk – this book helped me BIG time!)
  • be thankful
  • be encouraging
  • live my life for the One who gave it to me in the first place (still trying to place God as #1)
